Desjardin's pictures are alive with light. The artist's need to express his emotions has led him to join the followers of the Impressionist school. He has forged a name for himself in urban painting, without surrendering to the facile, and he wishes to transmit the wonder of the scenes that either charm or overwhelm him. He is always striving for "the" luminosity, and unceasingly enriches his range of colours to serve the light that obsesses him.
